October 8: Trip to Herkimer, NY

Well, the Herkimer Trip this year was a great success...although club participation was low we still had a lot of fun.  We even met up with a group from Pennsylvania who saw our trip listed on the website and decided to come look us up while they were back in NY visiting some family.  It was great to see that people from all over were there to dig, especially since there was a little rain in the air. 

I did manage to bring my digital camera today, so I will be posting some of those photos soon.  We did manage to find a nice area to dig...thanks to Richard for letting us into his claim.  We actually found some nice Herkimer Diamonds as well...and when we left at the end of the day, there were still many left in the pockets.  Richard was going to be there all weekend, so he probably will have the rest of the stones out before next time.  It was very interesting that each section of rock that we removed we found another pocket...must be we were in a good area.
